Hele (or Hela, or Helle) was the daughter of Atamas (or Atamante) and Nefele, and sister of Frixo.

Threatened, like her brother, by the second wife of her father Ino, she fled with him from Orcomenos on the ram Chrysomallo, the Golden Fleece.

At one point he fell into the sea drowning and giving the region its name: Hellespont (today Dardanelles).

His brother could reach Colchis where sacrificed the ram to Zeus and gave the Fleece to King Aeetes.
